Bicycle Type: Muscle Bike
1964 MATTEL STALLION, YES, THAT IS A BIKE IN MY LIVING ROOM. THIS IS ACTUALLY A PRETTY GOOD BIKE, THE SEAT IS MOUNTED ON DUAL SHOCKS, MAKING FOR A PRETTY COMFORTABLE RIDE. IT ALSO MAKES IT VERY EASY TO POP WHEELIES. THE SPEEDOMETER IS NOT STOCK AND SOMEBODY REPLACED THE REAR TIRE WITH A SCHWINN SLICK. I BELIEVE THE PEDALS ARE NOT STOCK. EVERYTHING ELSE APPEARS TO BE ORIGINAL. GREG GTR1017@COX.NET

Bicycle Type: Lightweight
THIS WOMEN~S RALEIGH BICYCLE WAS THE PROPERTY OF AN OLD GENTLEMAN LIVING IN THE SUBURB OF CLOETESVILLE OUTSIDE STELLENBOSCH, SOUTH AFRICA. EVERYTHING IS ORIGINAL ON THIS BIKE BARRING THE SEAT AND PEDALS. THE BIKE HAS NO GEARS AND HENCE NO STURMEY-ARCHER HUB FROM WHERE ONE COULD GET A DATE CODE. THE SERIAL NUMBER PRINTED ON THE FRAME BELOW THE SEAT READS: 66330HI. I HAVE HOWEVER NOT MANAGED TO FIND A DATE OF MANUFACTURE SINCE IT DOES NOT CORRESPOND TO ANY OF THE CODES LISTED IN THE RALEIGH SERIAL NUMBER CHARTS. I SUSPECT THAT THIS BIKE IS VERY OLD SINCE IT HAS ROD-BRAKES, NO GEARS AND NO HEADBADGE (ALSO NO INDICATION ON THE FRAME OF THERE EVER BEING A HEADBADGE! IT HAS AN ITERESTING LITTLE REAR REFLECTOR FITTED TO THE CARRIER. PHOTO CREDIT: CHARL CILLIERS. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BUYING THIS BIKE, E-MAIL CHARLCILLIERS@

AN OLD GENTLEMAN HAD BEEN CYCLING THIS 1953 RUDGE-WHITWORTH FOR THE PAST 40 YEARS THROUGH THE STREETS OF STELLENBOSCH BEFORE I SPOTTED IT! IT IS IN ORIGINAL CONDITION BARRING THE SADDLE AND TYRES. IT HAS 3-SPEED STURMEY ARCHER GEARS (HANDLEBAR-MOUNTED SHIFTER). THE REAR HUB HAS THE DATE CODE 53 7 ON IT, INDICATING THAT IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN JULY OF 1953. THE ORIGINAL HEADBADGE IS STILL IN PLACE AND INDICATES THAT IT WAS MADE IN THE TOWN OF SPRINGS, SOUTH AFRICA. IT HAS IT~S OWN LOCKING SYSTEM WITH KEY MOUNTED ON THE FRAME. THIS IS A 1976 SCHWINN FAIRLADY MADE IN MARCH. I FOUND THIS BEAUTY IN THE GARBAGE. MINT CONDITION CHROME, SEAT, GRIPS. THE TIRES HAVE NO DRYROTTING AT ALL. EVEN HAS ORIGINAL REFLECTORS AND AIRCAPS. THIS MUST HAVE BEEN IN AN ATTIC FOR ST LEAST 20 YEARS. WHEN I FOUND IT, IT WAS COVERED IN DUST AND SURFACE RUST. I SOLD IT AT THE END OF THE SUMMER FOR 250$.
