1964 Scwinn Fleet. I restored it this past summer. Everything is either original or vintage replacement. Except the tires and fenders. The fenders should be black but I like the look the chrome gives it.

teens or 1920's Century Cycle Co Royal Roadster. It has a truss frame, metal-lined 28 wood clincher rims, a leather Troxel saddle, and stitched leather grips. Rear hub is a New Departure Model A, front is a New Departure Model M. I suspect this bike was manufactured by the Mead Cycle Co, or possibly by Schwinn.

1983 Ross Mt. Washington mountain bike. It's original, except for the seat, and possibly the bars. It has a 10-speed Shimano drivetrain with friction thumbshifters, steel rims, and sidepull caliper brakes. Far from a top-line bike, but definitely an early mountain bike.

Raleigh D1, dated 1980 This bike was purchased as a gift for my Dad's retirement in early 1982 after sitting on a shelf in the bike shop for several months. I personally removed the bike from the box and assembled it, so I know that the only things not original are my Dad's initials on the top tube near the headset. It was the last Raleigh Tourist sold at that store. (And perhaps the last imported English D-1 in the U.S.)

Did you know bicycles can actually be ridden in street clothes? Reading the big cycling magazines and web sites would make you think otherwise, so I decided to post a "Bicycle Picture Of The Day" using photos from our Vintage Bicycle Picture Database to remind us all that bikes are flexible, versatile, unique, personal and practical. * * * The comments with each photo are the comments of the person who submitted the photo. * * * All photos are (c)2024 Menotomy Vintage Bicycles.
